(Job ID BE634596) Our client is a well-funded early stage San Francisco startup operating at the crossroads of web and mobile, and they’re looking for highly skilled back-end server developers with a passion for creating large-scale, multi-tiered, high performance distributed software applications, systems and services.

The service they've built is a pretty awesome platform from which to launch a company, but where they (and their users) go with it will depend to a large degree on you and your work.

Yes, this opportunity is as big as it sounds, and they need back-end server developers at a level that will enable them to meet this challenge.  They’re looking for experienced, dedicated back-end server developers with mind-boggling (perhaps gravity-defying) programming and creative skills as well as the spirit and stamina to flourish in a chaotic, light-speed startup environment. You'll be doing some of the most advanced transactional system development and application design in the world today, building out systems and services that will be used by literally millions of people.

Responsibilities:

  • will be responsible for creating robust, scalable transactional systems with banking-level reliability and global reach (yep, it's a global play).
  • will working closely with stellar engineering, product and creative teams
  • will have the opportunity to build bullet-proof scalable systems from the ground up

Qualifications:

  • must love working with LAMP, Java, and web services and have an eye for intelligent object oriented system design
  • must have experience in multi-tiered, scalable distributed systems in a Linux environment
  • must have a deep technical knowledge of Java, C++, relational database usage
  • must have a deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation, deployment and maintenance
  • must have an obsessive interest in robust system design and data modeling
  • should have experience with Perl and/or MySQL
  • must have current understanding of developing trends in relevant fields and emerging standards
  • must have a Computer Science degree from a top-tier school (note: if you are a genius this requirement may be waived)
  • must have a Master's Degree with 1+ year of related experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of related experience
  • must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a small, tight-knit engineering team
  • must have ability to scoff heedlessly and succeed brilliantly at impossible tasks under insane deadlines
