Douglas Messier's Profile

douglasmmessier@aol.com

I worked at Yahoo for 4.5 years, beginning as an content editor in Pasadena Search Marketing group before moving up Santa Clara to become a relevance analyst. The work involved a whole range of responsibilities relating to improving Yahoo's search quality. As a result, I have an excellent understanding of effective search and online advertising strategies. I managed teams of Yahoo contractors. I trained them on how to do testing, mentored them, answered questions, and handled administrative issues. In the training sessions, we often used documentation that I wrote or revised. I worked closely with engineers to define their tests and then translated their needs into procedures that could be easily followed by non-technical personnel. My writing is one of my main strengths. I have written technical documentation, newspaper and magazine articles, movie and television spec scripts, and even a privately funded biography of a grandfather for his family. I have a great interest in technology and science, having once worked as a science writer. I co-own an aerospace jobs website, Space Jobs (www.spacejobs.com) and serve as managing editor for Parabolic Arc (www.parabolicarc.com) that covers space tourism and other subjects. I'm open to a lot of possibilities at the moment. I wouldn't mind looking into SEO work. Any type of free-lance or full-time writing (technical, book, training) is a possibility.
